hi again everyone! okay, so I have the 235 rocker arms off and in solution -- they are looking great! when I reviewed the charts there is a part noted as "oil connection" -- it sits in the middle of the assembly -- can someone tell me what is it connecting to? or how does it connect? is the oil pump for some reason pumping oil all the way up to the assembly? -- if so, I am missing a major connection from the pan to the head -- also, in the manual it notes that the end goes into an oil return port -- found the port, but it is a port to nowhere -- really just a hole in the head as far as I can tell -- okay, so now it is painfully clear -- this is my first rebuild but having a blast -- thanks! chris

Oil is directed from the camshaft j...g on the year of the 216/235/261 engine.

Once the oil comes out of the rocker arm assembly in drops onto the top of the head and then drains down through holes in the head down through the block behind the side cover.

hi tim -- it is a 61' 235 -- the tube does not have the bend in it as noted in the manual; the part that bends over the top of the assembly -- additionally, I do not think the delivery port goes anywhere -- I am going to take some pics tomorrow and post them -- thanks so much! chris

The later 235s and 261s used a method of getting oil to the rocker arms that was a departure from the older method of ~1937 to 1957, Here is an excerpt from1959 truck shop Manual. Which manual do you have? It is always possible that after nearly 50 years the head and block have been switched or modified. I have heard of using an external oil tube to get oil to the rocker arms. There have been threads on this topic on this forum and on the Inliners' BB.
