Hey guys it's been a while since I have been on here.I just moved from where we were living to a house with a garage for my 63 c-10 half ton truck. It has a 283 2 barrel in it.I took it to a old mechanic that was his specialty in his day.He put sleeves in the plug holes cause the plugs were fouling out it run 100% better so maybe that may help you guys out if it runs rough or missing a lot. see ya.

It will run OK for about a week, then the plugs will overheat and burn out because those non-foulers won't conduct enough heat away from the plugs to allow them to cool themselves. Been there, done that, years ago before I knew any better. It's a temporary fix, and not a particularly wise one!

Are the plugs fouling with oil, or soot? Soot is an over-rich condition, usually caused by the carburetor flooding. Oil fouling is caused by bad rings, or leaky valve guide seals. The guide seals can be replaced pretty easily, without a major teardown of the engine. Ring problems require an overhaul. There is a "booster gap" plug available for oil burners, that will resist oil fouling better than a standard plug. Mail-order places like J.C. Whitney sell them, or used to, anyhow.
