You will also need a 6' long section of 2x6. Then one guy can put a cab on and off at will. Also works for boxes, engines, etc.
Cab weighs about 250-300.

Here is a picture from yesterday. I had made an extension arm which goes in the end of my engine hoist. I got lazy and didn't want to put it in so I got a 2x6 and beefed it up with a 4x4 in the middle. I put it as far forward in the door openings as I could and it balanced perfect. It was so easy, I'm going to make a better version of my quickie lift mechanism. And yes, I removed the cab alone!

Bruce | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 408 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 408 | go to the tech section and see my cab hoist it cost about 100.00 and a few hours to build, some have made comments it doesnt look safe but i lifted an entire truck with it and have removed sevaral cabs. my hoist also allows you to just remove the steering wheel and column shift lever and roll the rest of the cab out from underneath. it is also very handy when putting back together. i did mine after it was painted and had no problems.
