This sounds silly, I know, but I bought a new rubber cowl vent gasket for my '51 COE. Now that the truck is painted, I went to put it in, but couldn't figure out which way was up. It has a groove on one side which SHOULD fit over the raised rib, but it seems too long to go that way, and too short to sit in the outside "well". WTF? This should be the easiest part of the whole thing!

BTW: Cab inner windlace? Make sure the channel isn't crimped anywhere around the door, or you'll strain a gonad trying to pull it through!

I think the groove goes on the up side for the edge of the vent lid to rest in, but I'm not sure since I have a sponge rubber one and I'm not familiar with the COE vent.

Bruce I uploaded a few pics of mine installed, hope they can lead you in the right direction.
I used 3-M black weatherstrip cement to install it.

4ontheFloor, that makes sense. I'll try it that way and see if it looks right.
Tim, mine is a little different shape than your 52's (yours appears rounded, while mine is flat on one side and tapered on the other) but at least I can see where it needs to go in the 'well' and I should be able to figure it out.

BTW Tim, I looked at pics of your truck and read your blog. It's going to be a beauty! I'm working on my doors now and waiting for the new vent window units to arrive. I agree with you: it's a nerve-wracking job!
When will you update your blog, so I can see how the truck is coming along?
