While I was scraping away years of funk from the rear hub, I noticed that there was bright green paint over black paint on the hub caps (both sides). I can't tell if it extended onto the hub. This is the bolt pattern that inside of and smaller than the bolt pattern of the wheel itself.
I see no reason for them to be green.

Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,878 | The larger AD trucks, 1.5 and 2 ton most often do have only a small cap with about five 5/16" bolts covering the splined end of the axle flange.
But the 3/4 and 1 ton AD trucks all have the bolt in axle flanges.
Grigg | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | Could just be an inspectors marking. I've seen that on later trucks, thry'll hit it with a shot of paint of a specified color to verify that the shaft bolts were tightened by the installer.
