Another teacher at school says he knows of a 235 for sale but its a '65 and the engine blocks are longer on the later model 235s. Is this true or are they all the same? A 235 is a fairly easy replacement for a 216 (what was most likely originally in your truck). The blocks are the same lengths. Depending on the year and origin of the 235, you might have to do minor adaptations of motor mounts and water pumps. You would use your original clutch housing and clutch assembly (and starter).

Also, GM do Brasil used the 235 well into the '70s, although I doubt one of those would be in KS.

There's a graphic of the difference in shape of the 62 and 63 blocks. It says the later blocks are 24% lighter and show them as a little shorter, too.
