Luckly it was just pulling out of the garage. I don't know and can't figure out what has happened. It is an aftermarket booster, master cylinder and pedal assembly and they have worked for the past year and a half fine.
Here's my check list:
fuild- fine
leaks- none
booster- holding vacum
bleed master cylinder- done, fuild moves, no air
pedal goes to floor, no brakes- yes right away!!!!

This is a disc/drum set-up so I have the proporitioning valve in place.(could have gone bad, it is a used one??)

Any ideas please feel free to help me out on this one.
Thanks

The proportioning valve should have shut off the flow to the front or rear depending on where the failure is so you should not loose everything. I have not seen a proportioning valve cause a total loss of braking. I would suspect an internal failure in the master cylinder. You said you were able to get pressure out of it but I would take a closer look at it.

If it is an after market MC I would think it must have two cylinders. It is scary to think something would cause everything to quit and leave you with no pedal. That would change the term "parking brake" to EMERGENCY BRAKE". big_eek

It sounds like the MC is bypassing fluid before enough pressure is reached to activate the brakes. The whole idea of a dual system is so there is not a catastrophic loss of brakes. Have you tried plugging the MC ports to see if you have a hard pedal?

Thanks guys for the help but I think I get the "DUH" award for the week. I forgot about one thing I did. I wanted to raise the pedal off the floor alittle more so I unscrewed the rod under the dash about 15 turns or so. Well what I did was pull it away from the booster diaphragm and thus no brakes at all. The rod was not reaching the MC enough to apply the brakes just enough to bleed it to appear that it was working alright. I fixed the rod and got it longer and where I want it and now have plenty of brakes. Even took my daughter out for a ride tonite
Thanks again
