I have been drooling in several catalogs that I have received and noticed that there is not any new brake drums for a 1950 1/2 Chevy. I have seen them for '51 to '54 but not earlier. I have not gotten that far in my restore yet, but I will be changing out for new. Am I going to be able to swap out to a 51 set-up or what else could I do to keep it all stock as much as possible? | | |

There are no new huck drums available and wheel cylinders are expensive. You can switch to 1951 parts with few problems, you just switch the backing plates, hubs, and drums.

#44348 09/29/2003 9:43 PM | Joined: May 2003 Posts: 224 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: May 2003 Posts: 224 | i have a 1/2 ton as well, the huck brake to bendix conversion is somthing i wish i had done with my truck when i redid my brakes. i didnt cause it can cost quite a bit to get all the pieces and parts needed for the new brake system. if you can afford it and dont mind doing a little bit of tweeking, its definatly worth doing. you dont want to have to be looking all over the place for the rare huck style brake parts and then having to pay the price for them as well.
