I am figuring out some random stuff, and I started wondering: my 1 ton has a straight frame, no hump where the rear axle is. and when I see pictures of 3/4 and 1/2 tons, they have that little hump. so is it safe to say that all one tons have a 'straight' frame, as in, no hump where the rear axle is? and if so, from when till when was that? (mine is 1959). and come to think of it, if anyone has such a 1 ton frame they need to get rid of, send me a pm. not too far away, not too expensive. I'm about 2 hrs south of Memphis,TN.

Fords had the straight frames.
Most all GM light duty have the hump.
Do not know about the newer stuff.
I could be wrong agian.

mmm.. anyone got pictures of their 1 ton frame online somewhere? would sure be helpful here I think

The 1 ton frame has many differences which would be the thickness of the metal itself, the height of the rail, and the width of the rail. I do have the spec info at home. the 1 ton does not have the hump in the back over the rear axle. If you are interested I have a 3805 1 Ton frame from a 57 Chevy Panel.

I have a 55 Chevy 3800 one ton and the frame is straight. My dad has a 56 Chevy one ton with a dump bed that has the factory recession in it, so it has the hump over the rear axel.
