Rosie is a 1944-ish Chevy ton & a half Fire Engine.

Ordered a seat kit from Jim Carter before I looked closely at the "original" seat. When it showed up and I did a trial fit, noticed that the "corner details" didn't match?! While the new cover has square-cut corners, the "original" seat has a cool little detail at the corners:

(still figuring out photo posting . . . dang )

I really like the detail, but want the truck to be "as original". Is the Carter kit exactly like the original seat was? Or did my baby obtain some other seat along the way? BTW, the seat looks brown to me, while the back looks black. So maybe it's NOT the original seat. Hmmm . . .

your seat looks like the original - see this factory pic .... you won't find any repro covers like that unless you have a local shop make'em

Bill,

OUTSTANDING project with the Flxible! I learned much just flippin' through your site. I LOVE the old busses, can't be many around any more. You're quite the man for tackling, and conquering, a king-sized project. Thanks for your help.

That looks exactly like the seat in my 1941 pickup. I bought a Jim Carter kit but just sent it back yesterday. Picture

Hey kingisomer,

so what are YOU gonna do? Are you sending the Jim Carter kit back because it's not a match to the original? And if so, are you going to get a cover custom-fit?

I'm thinking in that direction. Maybe take the old cover off, have a shop sew me a new matching cover, and install it myself. . .
