hey guy's i know the topic of hei wiring has been wrung out like a dog with a bone ,but here's one i could not find any thing about in the search section .say you have a 61 gmc ,point ignition .has a resister wire in the harness ,what will happen if you put a stock gm hei in it as is ?would you have to do any thing to circumvent the resister wire ? just curious .i put one in without doing any thing to the wiring .

i put a HEI in my '73 and took out the resistor and used that wire to power a relay then battery power to the relay with a fuse then to the HEI. the resistor will make the HEI not get enough power.

Ive seen them run using the resister wire but it's not good. I tie into the pink wire on the back of the ign. switch & run a 12 gauge wire to the HEI.
