I just purchased a 1964 GMC 4000 with a 305 V6 and drove it 450 miles home between 35 and 55 mph. It ran like a dream, no missing, stalling, etc.. The next couple of days I drove around town (gotta cruise with a new toy) and now it is harder to start, puffs a small cloud when it does start, and stalls if idling too long. Would I be safe in assuming that the plugs were fine for highway driving but I need a hotter plug for in-town? I will be pulling a couple plugs in a couple of days and seeing what they look like, I'm expecting fairly fouled. It was a fire tanker with 10,800 miles when I picked it up, drove 450 miles home, then about 30 miles around town.
Any suggestions as to plugs or anything else that would cause it to run great then be hard to start with a poor idle?
