Started my project up for the first time in a year..engine's been out of the truck but the only change from last year was the carb was rebuilt-the only reason it was pulled was so I could media blast the cab/chassis.

Today I could not get gas for a while..no gas at the carb and fuel pump.. after many primes I took the top of the carb off and manually filled the bowl with gas. As expected it ran fine for about a minute then gas started shooting out that small tube in the top carb opening(the horn?) after that all attemps to start resulted in gas dripping out of the carb. Guess the starvation issue was fixed. It the only possibile problem for this flooding the float adjustment?

Happy weekend all-

Keith

Well it sounds like to me that the needle valve is stuck and not working properly. It may have some residue from sitting on it that makes it stick. The float could cause it but most likely the needle valve and or seat need cleaning. This crap they make called gasoline is junk and causes a white powdery substance to accumulate on internal carb and FI parts. The other thing may be that when the carb was rebuilt that someone forgot to install the needle and seat.. That would also cause it to over flow like that. I hope I was able to help. Henry

Keith,

If the float hangs up for any reason at all the fuel level will not be proper. In order for it to blow out the bowl vent tube, it is way out of whack...or sunk completely.

The float level must be set properly, the float chambers must be 'water tight' and the little arms and chambers must not be bent and rubbing on the bowl itself.

Hey guys..yup right on the money..I took the top of the carb off to check the float dimensions..Just hapened to notice the needle was missing! When I took the top of the carb off earlier in the day..the float must have hung up on the bottom part of the carb....increasing the float drop dim..to the point it let the needle fall out..found the needle on the garage floor...put it in..reset the drop.........and the truck started..

Thanks guys..

Keith
