Yesterady I made a post concerning a Toyota Camry that belongs to my parents and now it is gone.

I know this isn't a forum about import cars but I assumed that someone on this board may be able to help me out. I have seen posts about other makes than Chevy and they weren't deleted.

I just did a search on Toyota Camry and that was the results. Yet when I clicked on them it says there is no such post. So obviously deleted.

Let't hope it was just a thunder storm.

Joker same details, just have to re-enter them when prompted to. Just one of those things thats all. Thinking only moderators and original posters can erase. Did boyocoonor perhaps just try and move it to the lounge and it fell through the cracks. Even then It was a motor question.

No just trying to fix one. Joker are you refering to posting a quote from another post? If so just copy the original text. Go to your post then hit the quote icon below and voila. If you rihgt click on your mouse a menu will appear with cut, paste and a few other tasks. Now if you are refering to the signatues at the bottom of our posts just go into the 'my profile' section, "view/update profile" then type in what ever you want in the signature box and there you have it. As you can see from my memeber # Im pretty new to this site too but learnt all of the above from someone here. Welcome mate and dont be shy about posting if you want to comment on something.

PS there is an events forum too for things like swap meets. Posting such information helps lots of people and even makes a few of us envious.

Nope, wasn't trying to sell anything. My parents have been having trouble with their car for sometime now and I was just trying to get some advice from the knowlegeable people on this board.

The gang here has always been very helpful with anything I asked of them so I told my Dad that I would post on here for any information that I could get that may help with the problem.

When I came back today the post was gone. I didn't get to see any of the replies that were made so I still don't have any ideas about what we should be looking for.

If I recall corrctly some of the replys refered to replacing the leads due to possible moisture problems, checking all vaccum lines, particularly elbows etc - darn cant remembr the rest. Sorry mate. Hopefully the guys can get back to you and re-post.

Tony M, you are right about the search thing. I tried it and found my post listed but just as you stated, when you click on it there is nothing there.

If it was deleted I would like to know why. There were no rules broken here and there certainly wasn't anything in the post to warrant a deletion.

I remember saying to look for poor connections at the throttle area.like the TPS (throttle Position Sensor) as well as the coolant sensors at the thermostat housing area and possibly one in the radiator itself.Make sure the alternator is charging properly as that could affect engine performance.
Check the 02 sensor for proper voltage cycling(.2 to .9 volts).

someone else mentioned checking the plugs and wires as well as distributor cap if it has one(some may have a distributorless ignition system)look for a coil or coil pack ).
-
I am still checking my brain for more info I will update info as it is recalled to brain

I am still upset with the loss of the post.I am not sure if it was computer or human doings.

Thanks fellows for the advice. The car does have a distributor and I will check out the cap and wires to see if the problem is there. If not, I will check out the other suggestions until we track down the cause.

Thanks to all.

Is it new enough for a computer if so some you can turn the key on and off 3 times and it will blink a code to tell you the problem. But you need a book to tell you how to get code and what code means. good luck

Well let's see here. I pulled out my Haynes 83-91 Camry Manual. Ok It says if the Check Engine light stays on all the time THEN a diagnostic code is recorded and stored. It's NOT going to be as easy as turning the ignition switch off and on 2 or 3 times (I've seen that on a few vehicles) but it aint gonna work on a Camry. You would have to go into the ECU (Electronic Controll System) and do some wire jumping. If the check engine light is on all the time 1st thing to do is get a service manual. Also it has been my experiance that on older cars you gonna get more than one code come up for different problems that you haven't noticed and that aren't causeing this particular problem. Also there might not even be a code for this particular problem or it will point you to a device and say the problem is there but that device could be malfunctioning because of another device. Sure I like the distributer cap/rotor/wires and vaccum leak ideas (there's even a fuel pump filter inside the gas tank). Bottom line get a manual.
Adios, Kip

Yep and I might as well and this> If the car is dying out and staying dead for a while check for spark and check for gas BOTH even if there is NO spark still check the gas. A faulty automatic shut down relay will shut down the coil and fuel pump.

'Twas deleted, by me. No particular offense intended, just felt it didn't belong here. Lounge is best for off topic stuff, e.g. non-trucks. Thanks,
