I am considering the purchase of a panel truck; either in Michigan, Iowa, or Florida. Could anyone here go by and do a site visit, so that I don't have to buy it blind?

I can arrange a schedule with the seller, but really just need someone to go and crawl around it and ask a bunch of questions. Each of the sellers are really good guys, so there should be no issues, but it surely doesn't hurt to ask.

Additionally, it would help me to decide which vehicle to buy! :-)

Mark
PS here are the eBay auction numbers of the ones I am looking at in Michigan and Florida, with another post of a truck by the guy in Iowa who also has the panel.

Here are the questions that I sent to the Michigan seller Guy; did I forget anything?

Here are some ideas for information on the goody list. It could save me thousands if I know this information out, rather than trying to figure it out as I go...

Body:
who did the work; name and number?
What make and model to the doors come from?
Which patch panels were installed?
Any other surface rust? Was it fixed, or nonexistent?
Was there any bondo applied? Fiberglass?
I will send a separate e-mail a problem body areas in panels and hopefully you can give me any information that you know about those sections...

Engine:
block and head numbers please?
Four bolt?
Steel crank?
What type of heads?
Who did the work; name and number?
Any miles on rebuild?
What type of camshaft?
Roller, or solid lifters?
Any work to the heads?
Heads rebuild? New valves and springs? Retainers? Etc. etc.

transmission:
numbers please?
Rebuild?
What kind of stall converter? Make, model and RPM?
Shift kit or any other in site changes?
Does it have wiring and plumbing?

Rear end:
numbers please?
Rebuilt?
What is the ratio?
Posit track?
What kind of vehicle did it come from? Make and model? Chevrolet or Oldsmobile?

Frame:
is the VIN on the frame?
Who did the work; name and number?
Any bends, tweaks or anything else about the frame?

Chassis:
type of four link? Manufacturer and model number?
Type of shocks?
What was done to the front end? Type of springs, lowered?, etc. etc.
what kind of steering mechanisms? Where did at the steering column come from? Who rebuilt it?
What kind of brakes? What make and model are the front disk? Make and model of rear drums?
What kind of wheels and tires are those?

Glass:
where did the new glass come from?
Is it all-new, or is some good old class?
Any cracks, blemishes, etc. etc.? Discolorations?
Where did the new rubber come from? Is it all for the correct year and make?
Are there any missing rubber sections for ANY part of the vehicle?

Anything am forgetting? Please tell me about other parts that you have bought, but not installed. Body mounts? Trim pieces? Does it have ALL of the gauges? Any trim pieces that you know are missing? Any trim pieces that you know are there?

Please err on the side of telling me too much, as it will save me a lot of time and money in the long run.

Mark
PS yes, I know that a lot of the things we went over on the phone... just want to be exact. Sorry, I'm an engineer! :-)
