Got this in the mail. Can you help this fellow, please?

Sorry I was unable to get this email to go out through your website so I had to send it directly through my email.

I just test fitted a T5 tranny (with clutch only) in my '72 c10 with 250 6 cylinder and with clutch bottomed out on the flywheel still have .938 before tranny bolts to bellhousing. Is the 235 bellhousing longer than the 250 bellhousing? Is that my problem or could there be another reason?

Thanks

P.S
I am using Astro 11 inch clutch disc.

Thanks,
Peg

The installation is the same but some modifications have to be made. The front of the input shaft & the front brg retainer have to be shortened to match the old trans. The mounting holes have to be drilled out to 1/2 in. The splines on the front shaft have to be ground so the disc will slide on 1/2 in further. You should put a crossmember under the trans. with a mount. Use a fine spline yoke from practically any 68 up chev. & have the drive shaft modified to fit. There has been many posts on this in this forum. You can get more info doing a search & in the Tech Tip section

In my humble opinion, it is much easier to have a spacer made to fit between the tranny and bellhousing. I made mine 1/2 inch. I tried all of the other modifications and it still wouldn't work. The spacer made it all work!!!
