Hi im new to all this classic truck stuff, and i bought a 55 3100 shortbox stepside last fall and i just bought a 1970 chev c10 shortbox (body is f$%#ed but the frame is all there)i have my heart set on hotrodding the 55 and wondering if any of you guys have either heard of anyone or done a 55 body and box on a 70 frame it seams like all the measurements fit (drum to drum and wheelbase) im just wondering if im missing anything?!

never attempted this one , but more than likely the 70 frame will not sit up inder the 55 body very well. The rear might fit ok, maybe a hair on the wide side, depending on what wheel you want to run, but I was thinking the front would be too wie for sure unless yourun a skinny tire and a stock ride height at least. The hours it would take to make that frame work well(well being the key word) would more than likely not be worth it. You can get an easy 500 for just a swb frame, part out the 70 and put the money toward a mustang II variant.

the trucks up to 72 were a lot skinnier than the 73-87 trucks so you might be okay. I just sold my 79 but when i parked it nose to nose with my brothers 70 you could tell right away there was a huge difference in width. not to mention three people side by side in his truck was cramped, as opposed to mine where I could almost sleep on the bench seat if i used the arm rest as a pillow.
