For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 120 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 120 | How do I wire a wiper switch that has three prongs and add a separate windshield wiper elec. motor? The motor has two wires/red and black. (the rubber hoses I can do ok) Now with one wire from the switch to the wiper motor I have one speed. That leaves two prongs to work with and the washer button. This job has been put on hold many times but this time I aim to get it done. Appreciate any info. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Oct 2003 Posts: 5,152 | Need more information. What wiper motor is this? Is it designed to provide multiple speeds?

I don't know if the wiper motor was designed for one speed--it has 2 terminals. I put in the wiper switch which has 3 terminals (for 2 speeds I believe) but only one wire attached now - goes to the motor. I got an electric washer motor to use separately. It has two wires--one goes to a hot wire, the other some kind of ground I guess. Can I turn the existing wiper motor into a 2 speed or would I have to put in a different motor? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2006 Posts: 1,703 | intersting ? ...I recieved an electric motor in my many boxes of parts when I purchased my truck I seem to have the same setup, motor has just 1 black and 1 red wire, I also have 1 speed on the motor but the switch in the kit has 2 positions like it should have 2 speeds but I could not figure out how it works so I am living with the single speed wich is plenty ok unless it POURS then the wipers are just tooooo sloooow to keep up with a good hard rain. maybe someone will have an answer for us both? I will be away until Sep. and not have access to a computer except at a library, so I hope everyone has a great summer. Last fourth of July I drove my truck in a parade and hope to this year. There's mostly cars but a few trucks. Old cars are great--I've had a few but I love my truck the best. If I can hook up my washer system I'll tell how in Sep. Maybe too late for SW Radial but maybe I'll still be looking for a way to do it then as there are other things to work on. I'll check in then. Jim | | |
