A loud pop and crunch then one wheel locked up. It was a wild ride at 50 mph (JUST KEEP IT STRAIGHT).
Anyway the question is, My truck is a '55 1st seeries Chevy with the open driveline, a friend has a '58 rearend he pulled out of his '58 and it is available. Will this be a easy bolt in switch? If not, what has to be done to make it work?
As always, thanks a bunch for your help!

Before swapping rear ends, you might try to see if the "pumpkin" or "third member" from the '58 rear end housing will bolt into your '55 rear end housing. It is possible that it will fit and that you can use you existing axles. Good Luck | | |

I believe the frame widths are different between the AD and TF - measure distance btween spring pads and note positioning of pads w/ relation to angle of spring mount point and nose of pumpkin - might work, but they are definitely different animals even if same ratio - maybe ya can rebuild yers?
