Does anyone know of a good place to buy replacement door glass for my 54 GMC? hopefully someone who could ship to Canada. Or is it better to just have them made at a glass shop?

Hi Rayce, Try clicking on the links section at the top of the page. They're are a number of vendors who can help.
I assume your '54' is based on the A.D. series cab so glass shouldn't be a problem!
You could try http://truckandcarshop.com/
They are in Ca. but ship all over the States and Canada.
Good luck!
Jock.

If its like my 49 it is flat glass so just go to your local auto glass place. They can do it.

I was thinking more along the lines of tempered glass,Rayce but 'oldblu49' is right. A good glass shop could cut you one from Laminated glass. They may be able to get you a tempered one made if that's what you would prefer.Have you got the old glass as a template?
I'm personally not a big fan of laminated glass in doors, but hey, maybe that's just me!
Jock.

I agree with Jock. I am not a fan of laminate glass, however the tempered glass is thinner than laminated. That can cause problems with installation. Also check locally first for what you need. A bolt a vendor will sell you for 50 cents can be had locally for a dime. Not all your needs can be ment locally, but that is part of the fun. Good luck with the glass.

thanks I don't have a template for the right side as it is broken and I don't know if the left side glass is the same and could be used, so I am hoping i could get factory correct aftermarket glass, I will look up the links jockbolter50 suggested and see what I can find

thanks for the replies

Hi Rayce, I'm pretty sure your glass will be flat and therefor left and right are the same.
Re;glass thickness,I got mine made up in 5mm Green tinted tempered glass,it's pretty close to the original thickness and came with all the relevant safety markings etc.
Laminated glass is a MUST for your front windshields but I would go for the tempered glass in the sides purely for longevity. It wont crack if you accidentally slam your door!Or de-laminate for that matter.
Jimmie D's right though,it might not be as expensive as you think to get them made locally!

Hi Rayce, Glad to help! I take it that's $28 U.S?
Just to put it into perspective I fitted a rear screen to a Mercedes CL500 the other day, the guy didn't get much change from £1000!! eek I don't know the exchange rate for the Canadian Dollar, but you do the math!
Regards Jock. thumbs_up
