For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 45 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 45 | I received my new patch panels; floor, rocker panels, inner corners, but I'm having trouble finding weld-thru primmer. Anyone with any suggestions on local stores? | | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 46 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: May 2007 Posts: 46 | I get mine from my local napa store. But do you expect a lot of salt and bad weather down there? If you can get behind the panel after it is installed just prime with etching primer and treat as normal.

I have used it before in a profesional auto restoration shop. Some places it is a good idea, but it can make a mess with the MIG welder popping and spitting. If you first scrape the visible stuff out of a plug weld hole it helps some. It's a nightmare with the TIG welder, you better enjoy grinding tungsten. Some brands are worse than others when it comes to welding over it, and the harder ones to weld around are probably the better at not rusting. The two I used were made by Wurth http://www.wurthusa.com/project/en/leftnavi/catalog/product.php?path=04.0241.jpg and 3M http://multimedia.mmm.com/mws/mediawebserver.dyn?6666660Zjcf6lVs6EVs66SMj3COrrrrQ-The Wurth brand was the most difficult, before to long the spray can had a new paper label, it read "Spray on weld contaminator, best when used liberally" Grigg | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 615 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 615 | There's been a lot written about the toxic fumes so I don't use it..Probably some threads here or at Hotrodders. Be careful.
