My dad has a 1930 Fjord AA with 20" split-rim wheels, and we haven't had any problems. As long as they are in good shape and you have them mounted by a truck wheel shop that knows what they are doing, you shouldn't have any trouble. | | |

The 19.5 inch modern rims found on large vans like UPS and big breadtrucks will bolt on I believe.You must use radial tires on those, they are a low profile that looks a little dumb on a large truck but might look ok on yours.I see them with tires mounted for reasonable prices in truck trade magazines and even on Ebay.
Two or three piece rims are safe if in good shape, no mismatched parts or rust. I mounted hundreds of them. Tire shops don't want to handle them because they are lazy. Look in your yellow pages for mobile tire truck repair. There is always a guy will will come to your house to mount new tires on those killer wheels.Around here a guy will charge 25 bucks to dismount and mount a new tire. | | |

#41744 05/21/2003 3:56 AM | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 58 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 58 | I replaced a rim out of need on my 1949 3800 pickup with a standard 8 lug off of a 1995 dodge van, it had the same bolt pattern and from what i was told by a tire shop was that I could use that, any 8 lug Chevrolet, or pre metric **** pattern.
Collecting is fun, as long as momma enjoys riding in them.

Had to go to four truck tire dealers before I found one that would touch them, and he said he didn't want to see them again. Anyway, I'm looking to go the 19.5 route, and have heard that the wheels from later-model Chev/GMC motorhome chassis have the 10 bolt pattern w/small hub hole that will fit. Anyone know about this for sure? | | |
