First let me say "I have never owened a truck this Big in My Life" This weekend when I was Try to remove the Stuck Front Drums on my truck (Broken spring, brake shoe stuck to Drum Front Bakes never worked) I was asking My self. 1. Will Brakes off a 3/4 to 1 ton fit the front axel/sprindle? 2. What makes this Truck a 2 ton truck? (the front end,2 speed rearend, the big frame, the grain box) what? MY Goal with My truck use it to help finish my house and then Make a Cool streetrod with a long bed out of it. any direction any one would like to give to help send me down the correct path would be great ?

Is this a first series or second series 47? Either way, the brakes on the 1.5 ton and 2 ton trucks are larger than the 3/4 to 1 ton trucks.

What makes that truck a 2 ton? Well, the frame, and suspension are beefier to carry much heavier loads than their smaller brothers, and the brakes are considerably larger to dissipate more energy when stopping heavy loads. The smaller brakes won't fit on the 2 ton front axle as it is larger, and you wouldn't want to do that anyway as you will lose braking capacity.

it is a First series truck. The question about the 2 ton weight is because I would really like to up grade to Disk if possible?

I have installed disc brakes on my 2 ton.
It can be done, it is not simple, but well worth the effort.

Basically it involves finding a newer front axle like from a step van with the same bolt pattern, 5 lug front and 10 lug rear is my guess as to what you have, then narrow the axle to make the tires fit in the fenders.
