I would like to know if anyone has a good way to mount a 292 in a 59 chevy panel. I was planning on getting a v8 crossmember mount but I noticed the side mounts on the 292 are staggered unlike the 230 or 250.Would the crossmember mount work if I used a plate made from steel to go from the block back to where the crossmember mount is. This would cover the place where the fuel pump is located but if this would work I could just run an electric fuel pump.If you have installed a 292 please give me some feedback. Also I plan to bolt it up to a th400 tranny and 3.07 rear out of a 72 chevy truck. Will this get better gas milage over a 350 with the same tranny and rear combo?

I'm not sure if that would work - GM moved that motor mount for a reason, the 292 was cracking motor mounts, the block, or something. I think there is more info on this over at Inliners.org .
