on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 769 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 769 | I am in the process of putting my 54 chassis back together. I was checking out the rear springs and discovered they are not the same. One main leaf is 20 thousands thicker than the other. And the thinner one has deep wear marks from the second leaf. I was going to clean them up and reuse them but now I will replace them.
Speedway carries posie super slider springs with a 3 inch drop. Has anyone used these? I have a mono leaf for the front, so the 3 inch drop should be close to what I am looking for. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 1,464 | Hey Lonnie; Someone was asking about Posie's springs awhile back and I don't think anyone ever responded. I guess no one has tried them yet (?)
I would think they would work fine, they've been building hot rod stuff for a long time and have a good reputation as far as I know. If you get them, give us a report o.k.? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 3,750 | I personally haven't used them but I've heard good feedback. They have built in teflon buttons that make them quiet and smooth in use. My buddy fitted a set on his 46 F*rd sedan and is really pleased with the result, and as Waldo said they've been about for a while! So I guess they must be doing something right Jock. 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. A good set up with minimal fuss. My friend used the Posies Springs in his '53 1/2 ton pick up.Lowered the truck nice. Chassis Engineering Springs use their own hangers which moves the spring center pin back to center the rear wheels in the fender opening. The end result looks good. Their springs are 2.5" wide and are shorter than the stock ones or the Posies Springs. Measure carefully when installing the Chassis Engineering spring kit hangers.Their specs aren't always exact. They're close but not exact. I've used their rear spring kits in 2 of my vehicles. I don't mind moving things around so that everything is square and true. If you don't measure and install these kits carefully, you'll be in for an unpleasant surprise when you go to the alignment shop. I believe Chassis Engineering and TCI buy their springs from a same manufacturer, but I'm not certain. The TCI hangers weld in , while the Chassis Engineering hangers bolt in. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 576 | the kit from ce that i used, used some of the original bolt holes as a locator.kit went in very simple and yes,did center the rear wheels nicley.but i understand about checking measurements. the motor mounts had to be pulled forword a little for some extra firewall clearence for the distributor...........dave 1949 Chevrolet 3100 "When this thing hits 88 miles an hour, you're going to see some serious sh%t." -Doc Brown
