have a 235 in a 48 loadmaster that has gm cast on the block. Were chev blocks cast as chev or gm. thanks for any info.

Hy alfaulk, GM is the parent of all the divisions. Chev. and Gmc are just two separate parts, in theory "GM" could be cast into all the different divisions engine blocks, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, G.M.C. Oldsmobile, and Pontiac, hope that helps.
