I'll address part of your question...fuses are not polarity sensitive. The AD rigs that have fuses under the hood only have two (I think), for sure not five.

I'm pretty sure the one we have is 5 fuses. I'll have to check the truck tomorrow and see. I think I spotted somewhere in another posting that they switched from 5 fuses to 2 fuses around 50 or 51. I don't remember.

I don't know for sure about being the same on cars as trucks, but I would guess so, as each vehicle has identical electrical requirements and essentially the same system, would make sense to have the same fuse holder on the firewall.
