Hey everyone. My first question post so bear with me. I did search before coming and asking, 25 pages without an answer so......

What is the rear end dimension on a 58 GMC (outside drum to outside drum)? What rears are a bolt in swap with this truck? (I've been throught he tech section and know about the listing for rears and dimensions, hence my question above). And sorry, but the trucks four hours away and I can't get to it to measure it.

I ask because I just bought this 58 and the rear is locked up on it. I have to pick it up Saturday and would just as soon do a quick rear swap rather than trying to drag dead rear wheels onto the trailer.

Hy JDHolmes, I'm going to assume we're talking about a 1/2 ton. I don't have a rear axle of that vintage to measure for you, but I think it would be around 56"-60". The 55B to 59 Chev and GMC rear ends from the same size of truck would be the easiest swap. You could jack the truck up and set it on a couple of car skates or two floor jacks to load it, hope that helps.

Thanks. Truck is sitting in weeds/grass. I've thought of taking my floor jack and some plywood to load it that way also and or the floor skates. I'll probably take both if I can't find out about the rear just in case.
