How do you get the dash light bulbs out so?

I believe 54s still have them mounted in a socket that just pushes into a hole in the dash. Grab the back of the socket & wiggle it as you pull it out. Once the socket w/bulb is out push the bulb into the socket while turning counter clockwise on the bulb. It'll turn a few degrees then pull straight out. If I'm wrong I'm sure someone will point it out. grin

Well, you were right. Got them out(how many are there?) but I can't replace one of the sockets into the hole, not that it matters right now since I don't have the bulbs.

If the "ears" that hold the socket in get bent out a bit too far it can make it difficult to get the socket back in. You'll get the hang of it.

Yep, I was going to try to pull them in a little but that will have to wait for tomorrow. Too bad I couldn't just stick one box(that reduces the power to a constant 6v) in the power line from the starter instead of having to change out all of them good bulbs!(No big deal but I wish I could put them to use, they all work courtesy of testing with a 6v flashlight battery, but they won't work in the flashlight itself)

Why couldn't you put a reducer in the line from the main light switch that feeds the dash lights if you really wanted to keep those 6v bulbs?

Well, technically, I could do that but right now I'm just thinking of going and getting a 6v battery. Won't hurt anything to get it to check everything out and if everything is fine like someone else said "why mess with success?"
