Has anyone an idea how to repair that broken spring? The rest of the spring is at hand.

AJ, i have a 57 witht he same problem, but 2 broken springs. one like yours and the other broken close tot he circle spring part or it.
i am going to get some rod the same diameter, overlap in both directions, then lightly mig or tig them together.
i have heard from another member here on the bolt that you could also get some donor rod, overlap, tie up tight with tie wire, and JB weld them together. he said that worked like a charm.

AJ, i fabbed up 2 brackets to support my 2 broken springs. here are the pics.
i ground a notch in the top part to support the broken spring. 4 inches long on the up, vertical angle iron, and about 3 inches on the flat stock that has 2 holes drilled to bolt to the seat pan.

where did you get that spring from ?

I am sure yours will work too!
I bought the spring in a common hardware store for € 1,30 (less than 1 $). The resistance is almost as strong as on the other side.
I will post a pic when it is complete.
