Hello all, first post here. I just bought my first pickup(64 GMC Custom I think). I'm pretty good at wrenching on things, but I know nothing about GMC pickup trucks. Can someone be kind enough to point me to the best aftermarket performance and restoration parts places for my truck. I'm looking for motor mounts to install a V8. There's a V8 sort of sitting in it now, but it's not fully fastened down. It has some of the funkiest mounts I've ever seen, but they look like they could work if they were bolted to the frame.

Here's a pic of it:

What do you all think? Have I bit off more than I can chew this time? It has been sitting since 94. Floor looks pretty good so far and so does the cab roof and windshield area. I don't have it home yet, so I can't get better pics til it gets here. I really wanted a short bed chevy, but beggars can't be choosers I guess. I like the GMC grill better anyway. smile

It looks good & solid. You say you are good at wrenching, you should be able to handle it. American Classic sponcers this websight. They are a good place to get parts. LMC & clssic parts are good also.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Thanks for the response. It's pretty straight, but has slight creases in both doors at the same height. A couple of minor dents and a small amount of rust through on the angled part of the floor where your feet go. The rest seems pretty solid, I couldn't believe the doors. Open and close like a new truck, no sagging. The original motor is missing, but it has what looks to be a 80-ish small block chevy in it. I couldn't make out the transmission (truck was sitting in the woods and it had just rained that day and it was a muddy mess), but the driveshaft was installed so it appears to at least have the means to propel itself.

It has power steering. Is that unusual?

Won't get it home until this weekend, so I don't have any more pics or details. I can't wait, I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas. What's happening to me?
