If you use brake fluid u will have a blank
plate except for the no. stamped on it.

I bought me a replacement plate and stamped my
existing no. on ot and installed it when I
finished painting my int.
I took my original plate to the auto paint store
and we tried all types of removers but they just kept
removing all of the paint including what I wanted to keep.
Not shure what to tell you but I hope this helps.

Mine has been painted over and I found no way to remove the top coat without also removing the original paint. I also bought a repop data plate but don't have it on yet. If you really want to save the original you might try a painting conservator (those who clean & restore fine art paintings) and see if they can help you.

Got my metal number and letter stamping kit out and put the original info back in. My Kansas title for the truck indicates that the VIN is HAD58805. What's up? Any ideas?
