I have a welder and not sure if its feeding the wire like it should. When I set it to gage 10 it preset the Ipm to around 300. Every time I pull the triger it starts out slow for a fue seconds then goes fast. Seams that it should not do this.

I have a 175 mig and I have to take and clean the wand and feed tube to get it to run smooth, also check your wire spool, I have had mine bind a little and it can cause just what you are talking about. Mike Bourg

I limited all that out taken all the wire out and when pulling the trigger and the speed of the feed set at 300 the motor (wire feeder wheel) turns slow at first then speeds up. The Guys that are doing my work say its not right. So Im not sure if were doing something wrong or if the welder has a problem. For welding a long time it will work ok. But we just cant get a good looking job when we have that delay going on for sheet metal.

The 255 Lincoln wirefeed welder is designed to start by running the wire slowly at first. This allows you to establish the arc and a proper fusing, without piling up a bunch of weld material at the start of a cold weld. I really like the feature, but if I remember correctly, it can be turned off.
If you really want to get rid of the feature, you can go to the Lincoln web site and download the user manual. If you can't get the manual, PM me and I will see if I can find mine.

Our millermatic 250 does the same thing. Our millermatic 200 doesn't. I am from the old school that fought computerized welders for a long time, but I like it now. I still use the 200 because it usually has steel wire in it and the 250 usually has a push pull gun with aluminum wire in it, but the computerized features of a 2 yr old welder make welding a lot easier than a 20 year machine.
