I've removed the gas tank from my '47 1/2 ton and plan to etch and seal. I'm assuming that there is a tube that goes from the gas outlet on the side of the tank into and towards the bottom of the tank. The outlet is just below the seam. The tank is dented in the lower front and bottom front (I suppose from running over stumps or whatever)and it looks as though it's been braized. Is this assumption correct? Thanks.

It's a small world, but I wouldn't want to paint it.

41-47 should be the same gas tank......there should be 2 outlets on the bottom of the gas tank........one under the passenger side on the bottom of the tank...........and one under the driver side on the bottom of the tank...........the one under the drivers side is capped and the one on the passenger side is used and a flex tube is screwed into gas tank there.....the hose then goes to side of frame where the solid fuel line goes to carb.....i hope that helps.........

There is what appears to be a small plug on the bottom of the tank. That area is quite banged up. The line is hard from the tank to the fuel pump. The outlet on the tank is just under the seam which in this position lines up nicely with the frame along which the line runs. I was told by someone in a classic parts store that that is the right spot which would mean that 1/2 of the tank is below the outlet unless... there is a tube from the outlet that curves down towards the bottom of the tank to pick up gas from the lower 1/2 of the tank. The truck is a 47 second series.
