Is there a way to have my stock rearend and add a T-5 tranny and have a drive shaft made up for that combo? Or do I have to change out the rearend when I go to the T-5? I'm Running 3.55 gears. Final 5th gear is 0.73 on the tranny. Thank You
You have to change the rear end to an open driveline.

I've seen Jeep and S10 4WD T5's adapted to torque tubes. There are no kits available for it, you would need some custom machine work done and would probably have to shorten the TT as well.
Easiest thing to do is swap a '55 to '62 1/2 ton truck third member with 3.90:1 gear ratio into your existing axle housing and have a new driveshaft made. It's a bolt in deal.
The kit from Patricks is to use a Saginaw 3.11:1 low 4 speed to the stock TT, it is not an overdrive trans. The swap requires swapping out both the mainshaft and tailshaft housing.
the 68 -72 is a 3/4 ton deal. The 3/4 and 1 ton rear end gears will interchange from about 47 - 72. the 4.11 gears would be the desireable gears as most of the 3/4 tons came with 4.57 gears, and the 1 tons came with 5.14 gears.
Your setup is interesting. It also looks like it will live up to your moniker. How is the rear axle kept from rotating and pulling the yoke out of the trans?
Can you post more information or some sketches on you photobucket site?
The tourqe tube yoke is pinned, the T-5 yoke plunges only a 1/2" through the whole susp. travel. How much up and down force can there be way out at the end of the 4' long tube? I was planing on fabing a pivot point off the tailshaft under the yokes. There was lots of reasons to try the 54 car tourqe tube, 5 stud wheels,3.70 gears, same brakes and same park brake setup just bolts together.I just had to shorten it 12", gonna give it a try!

I like your idea of a pivot. I would still like to see a closer shot or a sketch. I am contemplating a conversion from closed to open, but don't have the time to research it now. I am busy working on getting my 54 back on the road. Of course that could all change if I were to come across a 55 diff.
Keep up the inovative work. I like it.
Take a look at this from TCI, it may give you some ideas about the pivot.
Thanks Lonnie. I thought id use the sliding part of the bell for the plungeing part on the tube and fab up a ureathane bushed pivot off the nice through holes in the T-5 tail housing.
