I don't think fords had the same trailing arms and what not. If you want to swap a rear, find a GMC or Chevy with a Dana 60. They're a littler hard to find but, they're out there. I almost bought one before I decided to do the T5 tranny swap. After I did the swap, I saw another one at the boneyard. The ring and pinion might be what you're looking for or you can still buy gears for the 60. -David Kustoms-and-Sleds

I have a third member out of a 68 suburban ready to go. but that will only give me a 4.11 rear. The 3.90 gears folks talk about are near impossible to find. I have yet to find a set.
The ford idea came from a guy at patricks. That was the first time I had ever heard of such a swap. He claimed the wheels would even bolt up.

I've never heard of a factory 3.90 in a 3/4 ton. Thought the majority were 4.57 'cept for some late 60's with 4.11's (and the rare 60's trucks with Dana 60). I think Art Houser makes a 3.90 for your rear but, it's bucks. Have you thought about an overdrive transmission along with that 4.11? I kept my 4.57 rear and installed a T5 tranny. At 75 mph, I tach at 2,500. It's pretty sweet and I get to keep my big, beefy Eaton. -David

I have a t-5 waiting to go in. maybe I'll just try it before I mess with the rear
