on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Would that be the serial number on the doorplate? Or the casting number on the motor that they used on the Virginia title, that needs to be retitled in Maryland. I don't see the casting number being a valid Vin number because if the motor to be changed out, I don't have a Vin. Is there a Vin number or is the serial number the Vin number to use? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,214 | Mike,
You should take your paperwork to DMV and get your MD title first. You might want to take a picture of the door post serial number and engine serial number and ask DMV which one they want to use (engine like VA used or Body)? Then give that number to the insurance company. As long as one of the numbers on the truck matches the VA title you won't have any problems getting a new title, but MD may want to switch to the body number to prevent future problems if the motor is ever replaced.
