Hey fellas...I know this isn't the swap meet, but could anyone point me in the right direction to find a dana 44 front axle with disc brakes?

Look for full size Jeeps and International Scouts, among 4x4 enthusiests who are swapping them out for bigger axles.

will an axle from a jeep fit a chevy? I don't want any lateral movement from the shaft at all. Even though i'd like to do this swap, i definately don't want to compromise my driveline in the process. Do you know the measurements of the axles? It's really hard to find anything on that.

thanks

It seems to me that when i bought my new blazer way, way back in '77, it was the first year that they didnt use a Dana 44 in the front end, or was it the last year? I cant remember. The point being, you should be able to find one in the salvage yard somewhere. I cant recall if it had discs on the front however. Gettin old, falling apart, ya know frown

Yes, I just checked and found dozens of them, many of them marked Dana 44, from c-10's and Blazers. still couldnt be certain about the disc brake issue or not. I'll send you an e-mail with the site address.

What year truck are you putting this on? If it's an AD, I don't think there are any Chevy Dana 44s that are narrow enough - you'll have to look for a narrow-track full-size Jeep. From what I've been able to find out, they use the same bearings, spindles, calipers, etc. as the Chevys.
