whats the difference between a 2 speed powerglide that goes with a L6 and one that goes with a V8? gearing? bolt pattern? Also how much does a powerglide weigh?

Chris,the powerglides are the same.The only difference is the low gear ratio,V8:1.76,L6:1.92 The main hub is a V8 is machined steel,in the 6 it is stamped sheet metal[not as strong]Good for street use behind a V8. On the outside,you can't tell them apart.I think they must weigh about 60-80lbs, Boyd

There are two generations of Powerglide. If you are talking the old cast iron Powerglide there is an adapter ring that is specific to the six or eight.
