The horns on my 6400 are mounted on the firewall with the relay underneath. The assembly manual show the horns mounted on the radiator support. But the drawing is dated 6-29-53 so it may not apply to a '49.There are no holes on my support to mount them.
Can anyone with a '49 show me the correct location and horns, as these may not even be the correct ones. Picture below. Cleon

They look correct and I've seen horns mounted there before. I've also seen them mounted on the manifold but that was a single horn. You have both a high and low note horn. Possibly this is where they go when it's optioned that way? Somebody smarter than me will let you know for sure.

Looks about right to me - for 1949 (maybe they should be mounted a little higher - see the link below)

Ok, It looks like some one lowered them by mounting them on a piece of flat stock and bolted them back up to the firewall in the original holes. I wonder why?. Maybe to clear the heater hoses? Thanks for the info. Cleon
