I am looking to put a diesel engine into it and am looking for some suggestions on a motor and transmission combination that would work in this application. Anyone done this swap? any ideas would be helpful. Thanks Biddaboy :confused:  :rolleyes:

Haven't delt much with diesels, but I would think it would be easier to swap. I have a dream of someday building up a late 50's Chevy with a Cummins, but I don't know if I'll ever have the money to do it.  | | |

worked for the city of L.A. one of the fuel tanks leaked after a big shaker, got water in the tank the only things that kept running Cummins.
If I was going to do it I would look for old trash truck or so, eng. trans ,rad. aftercooler all ready running.We had L10 M11 654 allisons 754 and world.It dosent have be a trash truck, but they are sold for less | | |

1948 3/4-Ton 5-Window Flatbed Chevrolet 34 Years. Now with a '61 261, 848 head, Rochester Monojet carb, SM420 4-speed, 4.10 rear, dual reservoir MC, Bendix up front, 235/85R16 tires, 12-volt w/alternator, electric wipers and a modern radio in the glove box.

Looking for something newer, well do just that, find a diesel powered truck, like a mid 80 size tilt cab.
Your best bet is to find a truck with envery thing you need, it will cost less in the long run and you know what to tell them at the parts house when you need to go for parts. | | |
