Since it's no longer the weekend of the 22nd - 23rd let's start a current week.

I stripped my removed fenders, blasted and painted the headlight buckets and pulled the 216 out of my '51

..moved to this weekend
Put a new lightswitch in yesterday, tried to adjust one of the headlights, but the plastic clip is broken. Also cleaned out some leaves from the air vent and attempted to fix the drivers side door latch. Put new points and condenser in today. Got some more leads on a place to take the truck to get body work and paint.

Here's a picture of the truck at it's new home with the F-105. Also with primer over the bare metal. I call it Cletus.

Today I managed to finish installing the TV cable. It may need a little adjustment but I won't know until it get the truck running and test it out.

Spent the weekend working on mowers and a garden tiller. I had planned on changing the oil in my '59 Viking, but ran out of time. I will try and do that this week.

Sure did! You can always tell how much care goes into a project by the qualitty of the welds. It's the first thing I look for in a custom and invariably if the welds are fine the rest of the build is too.

If not... well, you know the rest of the story.

I didn't get much work done on my truck, but I did go out and get parts. I went to Maple Grove's spring flea market on saturday. Instead of coming home with what I went there looking for (28 spline posi), I came howe with cab corners, driver's side windshield, cab patch panels, and upper and lower rad. supports. All for about $65.

I primed and painted the frame of the 58 from firewall forward and hung new springs and shackles. I bolted up a rebuilt axle but had issues with the disc brake set up that was on it, subject of another post. I also welded up the inner fenders where fatigue got the best of the hood hinge attachment area. Filled all the extra holes (and then some) made over the years while I was at it.

Put the battery back in the '54 3100 truck-it has been stored all winter in a friend's garage, took out the bars of Irish Spring soap and smelly dryer sheets used to keep mice from nesting inside the cab and under the hood...removed the boxes of mice posion on the floorboards, turned the key, pulled out the choke, stepped on the starter twice, waited 2 min. for the blue smoke to clear, pumped the breaks to be sure there was still something there and took off for home....

Got the hood and fenders off this weekend. A lot of scraping and cleaning ahead.

I picked up my new 49 Chev AD 2 ton on Sat morning, now i just have to get it running! (sorry i introduced myself in Bigbolts) Everything looks good except I have to wire up the ignition and starter. Anyone know where to find a wiring diagram? I am so exited to get this ol girl goin and on the road, shouldn't take much. I also helped my buddy fill and sand on his 50 shoebox (just frenched the tail and headlights) Then party time on Sat. night for my friends b-day (mmmmmmmmm chilli and beer!)

You can find the wiring diagram in a manual, and if you don't have one, try American Classic Truck Parts, or Jim Carter, or another one if you know it.

I installed a pair of 1986 Corvette shorty headers on my 350 conversion upside down so that I can still use the stock steering. Then I cut and welded J-bends to reroute the exhaust back down through the back corners of the engine bay, where there's more room. It really looks trick, kind of like a racing boat motor.

Didn't get much done, I usually work Saturdays (and when I don't, I'm usually out of town). I did get a new exhaust put on my S10 Blazer driver, and I went to the Super Sunday swap meet in Indy. Other than that, I didn't get much done.

I edited the old post but I guess you need to reply to get it to the end of the trail. blush

I posted a few pics of my weekend work here. Pay no attention to all that spaghetti, all the wire becomes history once I get the front end back together. thumbs_up

Great work there dburban...
Nothing more satisfying than to work hard and accomplish some goals and move closer to the finish.

Couldn't agree more, working on the truck is great therapy. Its important to keep an eye on that last part "move closer to the finish" else you end up working just to have something to do and finishing is no longer the goal. I have a 64 El Camino that was 3-4 months away from being finished for years cause I kept finding new mods to make (it was fun). Then I changed jobs, moved and put it on hold for a few years. Then along came the Suburban. Did I mention my wife bought the Suburban and supports all these (bad?) habits.

So I set goals: make the Burb watertight, make it run (and stop), then make it street legal. After all that, think about the mods and fun stuff but keep it on the road so we can enjoy it.
