I stripped my removed fenders, blasted and painted the headlight buckets and pulled the 216 out of my '51 | | | | Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 58 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2007 Posts: 58 | ..moved to this weekend Put a new lightswitch in yesterday, tried to adjust one of the headlights, but the plastic clip is broken. Also cleaned out some leaves from the air vent and attempted to fix the drivers side door latch. Put new points and condenser in today. Got some more leads on a place to take the truck to get body work and paint.
Here's a picture of the truck at it's new home with the F-105. Also with primer over the bare metal. I call it Cletus. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22133917@N06/2374731287/ | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Today I managed to finish installing the TV cable. It may need a little adjustment but I won't know until it get the truck running and test it out. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2028510450099708909oythOz_________________________

I had planned on changing the oil in my '59 Viking, but ran out of time. I will try and do that this week.

Sure did! You can always tell how much care goes into a project by the qualitty of the welds. It's the first thing I look for in a custom and invariably if the welds are fine the rest of the build is too. If not... well, you know the rest of the story. | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 | got to shampoo rugs and watch the snow, | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Thanks Woody, that means a lot coming from a pro.

I went to Maple Grove's spring flea market on saturday. Instead of coming home with what I went there looking for (28 spline posi), I came howe with cab corners, driver's side windshield, cab patch panels, and upper and lower rad. supports. All for about $65. | | | | Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 1,026 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 1,026 | Still hooking up the TPI.

I bolted up a rebuilt axle but had issues with the disc brake set up that was on it, subject of another post. I also welded up the inner fenders where fatigue got the best of the hood hinge attachment area. Filled all the extra holes (and then some) made over the years while I was at it. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | So, dburban, where's your pictures. (sorry i introduced myself in Bigbolts) Everything looks good except I have to wire up the ignition and starter. Anyone know where to find a wiring diagram? I am so exited to get this ol girl goin and on the road, shouldn't take much. I also helped my buddy fill and sand on his 50 shoebox (just frenched the tail and headlights) Then party time on Sat. night for my friends b-day (mmmmmmmmm chilli and beer!)

Then I cut and welded J-bends to reroute the exhaust back down through the back corners of the engine bay, where there's more room. It really looks trick, kind of like a racing boat motor.

I did get a new exhaust put on my S10 Blazer driver, and I went to the Super Sunday swap meet in Indy. Other than that, I didn't get much done.

I posted a few pics of my weekend work here. Nothing more satisfying than to work hard and accomplish some goals and move closer to the finish.

Its important to keep an eye on that last part "move closer to the finish" else you end up working just to have something to do and finishing is no longer the goal. I have a 64 El Camino that was 3-4 months away from being finished for years cause I kept finding new mods to make (it was fun). Then I changed jobs, moved and put it on hold for a few years. Then along came the Suburban. Did I mention my wife bought the Suburban and supports all these (bad?) habits.
So I set goals: make the Burb watertight, make it run (and stop), then make it street legal. After all that, think about the mods and fun stuff but keep it on the road so we can enjoy it. | | |
