Where would this number be on a 305 V6? I have heard it is somewhere near the distributor, or is that just for the I6 engines? I know there is a number near the front of the engine just below the passenger side cylinder head, but I dont think this is the one I am looking for. Can anyone clarify this fer me?
P.S. The GMC V6 Kicks [censored]!

ON V-8's it is stamped on the part of block that sticks out past the pass side (right) head. I don't know on V-6's like yours, but that may be good choice. May have some letters and then numbers, which are a date code. Letters tell year, vehicle it's in, and trans usually used or carb maybe. You'll need a chart for the codes from somebody or dealer.
