I have a 54 3100 with a 230 and a Muncie 22 tranny, the m-22's third gear is trashed and one ear is broken off, any suggestions, a local shop quoted me $750 to rebuild but won't touch it with a broken ear at the bell housing.

Someone has told me that a Borg Warner Super t-10 is a direct swapp for the M-22.

Will a t-5 bolt up, would I need a new bell housing, clutch ect?

What about a SM-40 or 45 from a 60's truck ect?

Want to get out as least exspensive as possible, cause I am going to eventually rebuild the 235 and 4 speed to put back into, within a couple of years.

Thanks again for all your input

New parts can be had for the muncies, even cases, online. Broken ears are a common problem. They are pretty easy to rebuild. Otherwise, you can replace it easily with a Saginaw box. One thing, though, if this is a real M22 rockcrusher box it is worth quite a wad of cash.
