Can a 56 stepside long box be shortened to a short box?
If so, what does it involve? I'm refering to the box itself, not
the frame.

You are better off purchasing new bedsides. I brought mine to a metal fab guy and he made me a set for $200. Exact duplicate of a 56 short box. Check my pics out.

Bob -- Not sure if the Task Force trucks are like the Advance Designs in this regard, but with the ADs, the long boxes (3/4 and 1-tons) are a lot harder to find than the short boxes (1/2-tons) so unmolested and intact bed sides are worth keeping that way. You might be doing a fellow Bolter a big favor if you leave your long bed pieces unmolested, sell them to someone who needs them and do as Tom suggests and get new shorties.

By the way, we get the seedlings for our christmas tree farm from a nursery in your town -- what's the weather like, is the ground still frozen?? When your ground thaws enough for the folks there to dig up seedlings, my season for working on my trucks comes to a halt until Christmas is over.

So ... how much more wrench turnin' time do you think I have???
