I traded a 1968 falcon, for this thing, realizing the falcon would never really be worth what it would cost to fix it, and wouldn't be quite as fun.

The engine runs great, had to replace the fuel bowl gasket so that it would keep gas. So far I've purchased the floor pans, cab corners, and other cab parts, I'm in college so it will have to wait until the summer to get anything major done to it.

I do have a few questions:
The guy I got it from said it had a 2-speed rear end, I'm not convinced it does as there are no levers or anything going to the rear end that would make it one. I'll have to get some better pictures.
I'm fairly certain it is a 1953 6400, with a 235
And while I've been browsing around, what does COE stand for?

Welcome to the Stovebolt Colossal. Awesome trade for a Falcon.I'm almost sure you have a 2-speed rear, I can't tell from the pictures though. There should be a small round switch on or just under the dash that says low/high on it. COE means "cab over engine" you've seen them around, real stubby looking but highly desirable.N

Another Welcome to ya, and that's a good look'in truck, you have there. If it's a 2 spd. rear axle, it will have a diaphram bolted to the left side of the hogs head, facing the front of the truck, with vacuum hoses attached to it. It will also have a round lever actuated swith mounted below the dash between the steering column, & ignition switch. I'm fairly certain that it doesn't have the diaphragm, I have my dad taking pictures and emailing them to me soon though to confirm, thanks for your help. Is there a way to tell by the VIN number if it should or shouldn't have came with one?

A 2 ton AD (Advanced Design) generally, but not always, came with 2 speeds. It's the 1.5 tons that were standard with a single speed rear but a two speed was an option.

Mine doesn't have that switch, may have had it and gone now, the wiring is a jumbled up mess with all the add-ons that were done to it. I've seen the diaphragm here on the site, and am fairly certain that it doesn't have it, but I'm getting the picture to confirm.

So, it's not a two speed...disappointing. But moving on, how do you bleed the brakes, is it just like any other car, I've tried it, and that didn't work. And what does the big cannister thing do in the brake system?
