I finally have another bolt. I will post the pictures and specifics later, but I need advice on the transmission being locked in first gear? It is a four speed with a dump bed and it does not as near as I can tell have a two speed rear end. Thanks

Do you think that something is broke or has it been sitting a long time?

Also a C-60 will usually have a 4 & 2 or a 5 & 2 or sometimes just a 5-Speed trans. If you can't find any signs of a button on the shifter look at the rear itself for signs of a 2-Speed.

It has been used as a flat bed up until last month. I bought it from the school that i go to for 250 and they bought it new in 66. I looked at the rear end and I could not see any signs of a shifting mechanism is there anything in particular that I should look for. It got stuck in first when I was driving it home. I was downshifting and then it got stuck and would not come out. It is a four speed tranny. Any ideas?

Is the trans a syncronized 1st gear? I've never really experienced one stuck in gear. Have you checked the gear oil?

If you didn't notice anything on the rear or any button on the shifter or any wires anywhere, you most likely have a single speed rear.

Does the gear shift move? sounds like possibly your gear shift jumped out of the rails in the tower and not letting you shift gears, when that happens sometimes by moving the gear shift youll put the transmission in another gear so its in two gears at once,,,hence the transmission is locked and wont move.
