TO tribal elders (1) can I use 5/8 pully on new short shaft water pump ? (2) can I convert my 50 generator to 12 volt ? (3) can I use the original 50 vibration damper with 5/8 pulley ? all these when pulling out the old 216 and installing a 55 235 6cyl in my 50 chevy 3100 and converting to 12 volts also.

50 Chevy,
My grandfather did the conversion on my 48 Chevy many years ago. It is the same 55 235 with short shaft water pump to the original 48 NP420 4 speed. He had kept it 6 volt, but told me when I was converting to 12 to keep the factory foot pedal 6V starter and use a early 60's Buick or Cadillac generator and voltage regulator. I found a 1961 Buick generator and v/r and had the gen rebuilt. Has worked just fine for the last 8 years, and I daily drive the 48 about 50% of the time. Unless you are a Chevy purist, most people think my truck is bone stock.
Hope this helps, Garry
