Has anyone tried using the 350 turbo adapter mounts into a truck?.I'm talking about the ones that you use to install a 350 turbo into a 57 chev car. I thought I could use them in my truck to mount a small block/350 turbo , and then use 55-57 chev car front mounts on the front. Has anyone tried this or know if it might work?I already installed a 76 Olds 442 differential in the back to illiminate the closed driveshaft.(that worked out very slick),Thankyou in advance.

I assume you are talking about the kits that are sold to install transmission side mounts for those who wish to use the stock front engine mount set-up. I use this side-mount set-up in my '57 chevy hardtop but note that this kit fastens to the stock frame "horns" where the old side-mounts connected to. I don't think this side mount kit will work in a truck, certainly the AD's, because the frames are completely different.

I did it with the help of my welding buddy. We put a '57 283 (front mount) w/ a TH 350 into my '55 1st series. Welded up our own front angeled mounts to take the stock front mounts. We cut the tranny cross member down the center and moved it back and added steel to the middle (wider as we moved back) with a tranny mount to match TH 350 tail mount. Keep in mind the angle to equal the angle off your rear end. I used the old rams horns exhaust and had to move the steering box over 2". All is well.......

I forgot that the AD's didn't have the 55-57 side mnts. I may try altering the stock rear crossmember and then fabricate the front, thanks for the ideas guys.I was thinking of the 55-56 exhaust manifolds, I'm not sure yet. What I'd really like is fenderwell headers and a tilt front end so it's easier to work on/not to mention I love the look that it has smile
